Meter Reading

Self Read Residential meters are billed out the middle of each month and are due at the end of the month. Self-read customers will read their meter, enter the meter reading in the designated area of the billing stub, and pay the amount due on their statement. Meters should be read at the same time each month in order to keep the number of days in the billing about the same each month. Payments are to be received in our office by the due date on the billing statement or a loss of discount will be applied to the account. Delinquent accounts are subject to disconnect around the 15th of the month.

About Meters

An electric meter is an extremely accurate recording instrument, which measures the use of kilowatt hours. Meters are tested before being installed and then tested on a rotating basis to ensure accuracy. It is rare that a meter is found to run fast and record an increased usage. Like most other machines, meters tend to slow with age. If you believe there is a problem with your meter, CR will test the meter for accuracy. There is no charge for the test.

Tampering with electric lines or meters is both illegal and extremely dangerous. Any meters found tampered with will be prosecuted to the fullest extent allowed by law.
