Meter Reading

Residential Meters

Residential meters are billed out the middle of each month and are due at the end of the month.  Payments are to be received in our office by the due date on the billing statement or a loss of discount will be applied to the account. Delinquent accounts are subject to disconnect around the 15th of the month.

Residential Meters, Cabins, Irrigation, and Commercial

Residential, cabins, irrigation, small and large commercial meters are billed out the end of each month and payment is due by the 10th of the following month. Payments are to be received in our office by the due date on the billing statement or a loss of discount will applied to the account. Delinquent accounts are subject to disconnect around the 20th of each month.

Automated Meter Reading

Chimney Rock has the capability to read meters remotely.  Reads are loaded as of the end of each month so bills are one full month of usage.

About Meters

An electric meter is an extremely accurate recording instrument, which measures the use of kilowatt hours. Meters are tested before being installed and then tested on a rotating basis to ensure accuracy. It is rare that a meter is found to run fast and record an increased usage. Like most other machines, meters tend to slow with age. If you believe there is a problem with your meter, CR will test the meter for accuracy. There is no charge for the test.

Tampering with electric lines or meters is both illegal and extremely dangerous. Any meters found tampered with will be prosecuted to the fullest extent allowed by law.
